IgE MEDIATED ALLERGIES
When the body is exposed to an allergen, IgE triggers the release of chemicals, which manifests as an allergic reaction. MetaMetrics performs quantitative detection of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in human serum and plasma (citrate) using enzyme immunoassay on a nitrocellulose membrane (immunoblot) technology. The test has been compared in a clinical trial with the commonly accepted “gold standard” in allergy testing- Skin Prick Test (SPT). The results showed that both methods have parity reliability in determining specific IgE. MetaMetrics IgE Allergy test complements the current Skin Prick Test for IgE determination and improved diagnosis in clinical practice.
IgE 20 Food Allergy Test measures the IgE antibodies from 20 common food allergens found in the Filipino diet including shrimp, peanut and crab. IgE-mediated food allergy is the most common and dangerous type of adverse food reaction.
